Settings: Email and SMS

The Email & SMS tab decides what ReservationBay sends, to you and to your customers.

Email settings

Email address: where your own notifications go. This can differ from the address you sign in with; a shop often wants info@ rather than the owner's personal address.

Then three switches:

SwitchWhat it does
Receive an email on new bookingYou get a message the moment a booking comes in, most useful for widget bookings, which arrive without anyone at the counter noticing.
Receive a daily overview of your bookingsOne message each day with what is coming. Good for the morning briefing; a good alternative to the per-booking mail once your volume grows.
Ask customers for a review after their rentalSwitches review requests on. Off by default.

Review request timing

With review requests on, you also set days after the rental ends. The default is 2. Setting it to 0 sends the request on the day the rental ends.

Two days is usually right: long enough that the customer has actually used the thing, short enough that they still remember it.

SMS settings

Receive an SMS for a new booking: a text message when a booking arrives.

Text messages cost € 0.15 each, which is why the price is printed on the switch rather than hidden in a price list. Customer-facing SMS is chosen per booking, on the create booking screen.

What your customers receive regardless

Some messages are part of the transaction and are not switches:

  • Booking created: their confirmation, with an .ics calendar attachment.
  • Booking confirmed: when you accept a booking that came in as new.
  • A sign-in link: when they ask to see their own pages.
  • A signing link: when you send a contract to be signed remotely.

Everything sent to a customer goes out in their language, their own choice if they made one, otherwise your company language.

Chasers you do not have to send

Three things happen on their own each day:

  • Bookings that were never completed are expired.
  • Bookings still unconfirmed are chased.
  • Bookings whose start date passed without starting are chased.

A record of everything sent

Every message ReservationBay sends on your behalf is logged, so "did they get the confirmation?" has an answer.
