The booking widget
The booking widget is ReservationBay's booking flow, running inside your own website. Your visitors pick a period, choose what they want, fill in their details and pay — without leaving your site and without your team touching anything.
Why it is worth setting up
It writes into the same calendar as your counter. There is no syncing and no double-booking; the widget and your team are looking at exactly the same availability, and the moment one takes an object the other cannot.
It applies the same rules. Your prices, seasonal surcharges, deposits, minimum rental periods, changeover days, time slots, sizes and buffer times all apply online exactly as they do at the desk. You maintain them once.
It takes the money. A booking arrives paid, or partly paid if you require a deposit or a percentage in advance.
It runs day and night. Bookings taken on a Sunday evening for a Monday morning collection are the whole argument for having it.
What it can do
- Choose a location, if you have more than one.
- Choose a period, within your opening hours and around your closed days.
- Choose objects, with live availability, a size picker where sizes matter and a time slot picker where you publish departures.
- Add bundles, with the quantity you actually have.
- Add optional extras — helmets, child seats, a damage waiver — with the stock still free.
- Settle a discount code or a gift card, with what it is worth shown before checkout.
- Fill in personal details and accept your terms.
- Pay with the methods you switched on.
Everything a visitor is refused — a period that is too short, a day rentals do not start on, a category that is sold out — is explained in their own language, with the actual number or day behind it.
What it looks like
It takes your main colour, which you pick in the portal, and carries no ReservationBay branding beyond a discreet powered by line at the bottom. The payment page carries the same design; your customer never sees the payment provider.
You can change the colour later and every page you embedded it into follows, because the colour lives in your account rather than in the code you pasted.
Where the bookings end up
In your booking list, with source Widget, status New — waiting for you to confirm. They appear in your day calendars in the widget's own colour so you can tell at a glance what came from your website and what came from the desk.
The booking sources report tells you what share of your business the widget brings in and what an average widget booking is worth.
Demand you could not serve
Every time the widget has to tell a visitor that nothing is free, that refusal is written down — which category, for which period. That becomes the demand against stock report, the one that tells you what to buy next. It is the only way to count the bookings that never happened.
